Top Insights from Udo Erasmus’ Interview

  1. Every year, 98% of the atoms in your body are removed and replaced. Our bodies are constantly turning over. We are made of building blocks from the food we eat, so when something goes wrong in the body, raising your standard of food intake can help remove and replace low-standard molecules with higher-standard molecules. This is called healing.
  2. More health problems come from damaged oils than any other part of nutrition. Alternatively, more health benefits come from switching from damaged oils to consuming oils with health in mind and giving up the habit of frying.
  3. If you increase Omega-3s in your diet, you can improve virtually every major degenerative disease or condition of our time. 99% of the population doesn’t get enough Omega-3s for optimal health and it’s the single most widespread nutrient deficiency.
  4. You should avoid buying oils in plastic. Plastic swells and will leach quickly into the oil. The best bottle to buy oil in is a brown glass bottle.
  5. Cooking your food in water is the best method. You can add oils to food once it has been removed from heat.
  6. Research shows that doing a stillness practice can reverse aging. This can also help you discover yourself and bring calmness into your life.

Interesting post. I do purchase my oils in dark, glass bottles. However as I was making my lunch, it dawned on me that my favorite salad dressing is in a clear plastic bottle. It makes me sad as it use to be in a glass container but switched to plastic a few years ago. I know there are other brands in glass , or I could make my own, but I don’t love them as much. Thoughts?

Hi Beth! You’re very astute – way to go for realizing this! I believe Udo would say to choose another brand even if you don’t love it as much. My personal guidance is all things in moderation. If you’re carefully watching out for low-quality oils like hydrogenated and seed oils, and you’re consuming an overall healthy diet (which I know you are), and you love the plastic container dressing and it’s getting you to eat veggies, I would stick with it. Progress, not perfection, is my opinion. It’s all about choosing what’s important to us and what we can feasibly improve!
