Happy Motivation Monday! Today’s message is simple … YOU are pretty awesome. Yes, you! (picture source)
I truly believe that every single person has something amazing to offer, and that having confidence in our own abilities makes us so much stronger. Take a second to think about 3 great things about yourself. Seriously! I’ll start you off … here are three things that I appreciate about myself:
- I am dedicated. When I set my mind to something, whether it’s for work, a personal goal, or something I want to do to help someone out, I will get it done.
- I am genuine. Maybe it stems from being a bad liar, but I always “tell it like it is” and don’t often put on airs. This has been a continuous path of improvement for me – I used to feel like I had to “pretend” to be someone I wasn’t (I talked about that in this post).
- I know myself. Even if I’m not always the best at expressing my feelings, I am very in tune with how I am feeling, how I am acting, and the impact of my actions on others.
Do you feel better after thinking about your own strengths? I hope you can carry them with you throughout today. If you walk with confidence, and believe you can achieve your goals (whatever they may be), you’ll be much more likely to get the results you want.(picture source)
What has held you back from achieving those goals in the past? Maybe it’s the fact that you just haven’t started yet, or that you have held back because you don’t believe in yourself. Regardless of what it has been in the past, I challenge you to get out of your own way! Today, get out there and take a step forward – with confidence – and start reaching towards your goals!(picture source)
**The winner of my ENERGYbits giveaway has been announced on the initial post. If you entered, head over to see if you won, and email me if you did!**
So tell me in the comments … What is one great thing about yourself? Brag a little!
Not to sound conceited but YEAH BABY I AM AWESOME! LOL!!!!!!!! WE ARE ALL AWESOME THOUGH! We all are so unique and so different from one another, that’s why we all have a purpose in life! Someone might ADORE marine biology and not have any clue about the world of nutrition, and then there could be someone who loves nutrition but doesn’t understand the under water world… And then there could be a – OKAY I WILL STOP but MAYBE you get the picture, or not, maybe I am just talking and talking about nothing? But hey, I still have a point in this world, LOL!
I love this!! It doesn’t sound conceited at all. You are awesome, Gigi – you make so many people laugh every week and always bring a smile to my face.
It’s always great to have a reminder to tell myself why I’m amazing!
Here’s another reminder, a few weeks later – you ARE so amazing!!! You’re an inspiration to so many through your blog, you balance a million things like a champion, you are making such great progress in your recovery, and you manage to be a dedicated family member and friend through it all. Go you!
I think this is a great reminder. I think there are times we fall into a slump where we wonder what our purpose is. Or are very hard on ourselves. We ALL have so much to offer the world…we just have to find what the strengths are and share them. I’ve been in a negative funk all December because of being alone during the holidays. For some reason it’s just bothered me more this year, but I have a lot going for me and need to recognize what those things are! Thanks! 🙂
Hi Tonya! Although you mentioned your December funk a while back, just wanted to say that I hope December turned out far better and happier than you had expected! You deserve happiness and relaxation, and I hope you got it!
One of my favourite posts to read on a Monday (well Tuesday rather ;))- always sets the tone and changes my perspective for the coming week!
I guess something I appreciate about myself is being wholeheartedly genuine- I never put on a facade or be fake- and always try and help others. Its hard when we live in such a competitive world where you don’t know who to trust or how authentic someone is being.
So glad you’re liking the Motivation Monday/ Tuesday posts, Arman! Being genuine is an amazing quality – I used to struggle with that one, as I think a lot of people in the town I grew up in tend to struggle with being genuine, and I kind of fell into the trap of thinking I needed to be “fake.” Hopefully, I’m much better at it now!
Love this post lady! It was great to learn a little more about you… such an inspiration!!!
Thanks, Jillienne! You are an inspiration, too, with your amazing marathon AND triathlon training!
Love this! It’s always a challenge to think about your good qualities, but it’s so important. One thing about myself is that I’m a really loyal friend. Once I am you friend, I stick with you through thick and then, and I do my best to be there for you. Blog friends included 🙂
That is SUCH a valuable trait, Amy! I have had many friends come and go, but the ones that stick with me through thick and thin are such a gift.
The phrase “I Am Enough” is such an important thing to remember. We might not be the best at many things, but what is important is who we are. And it is easy in life and relationships and work to focus on what we can’t do or what we wish we did better, but the key is to remember what we CAN do.
I am a very loyal person (loyal to a fault Lisa sometimes tells me) … that loyalty comes through in everything I do, from dedication at work, to perseverence in our charity events and other things I have made a priority, to the way I handle my relationships.
Hope you have a great week!
Thanks for these wise words, Michael, as always! Loyalty is such a valuable trait, but I can see how it could “get in the way” of rationality sometimes.
Love this Meghan! I have to agree that you are all of those things! At least virtually 🙂 I also appreciate my self-awareness and my honesty. I tell it like it is an acknowledge when the fault is my own. I have such respect for people who are the same way.
I’m glad you recognize how amazing you are, Davida! Self-awareness and honesty are SUCH under-appreciated and hugely valuable character traits. I aspire to be just like you!
I love Motivation Monday on the Lyons’ Share. Thank you Megan (and thank you for the email). This really brightened my morning and made me feel like I am enough.
You are enough!!!! In fact, you are pretty darn amazing! Hope you’re living it up on your European adventures right now!
I am such a big believer in this! I am constantly posting about this as people do not realize how critical it is to success!!! I love all your quotes on the page, so very true. Thanks so much for sharing!
I always race my best when I believe in how good shape I am in, and I believe I can run to my potential. When I ran in the Great Britain Olympic Trials, I was terrified, but i told myself I deserved to be there….and I did….I finished third! It was mind battle, but that confidence allowed me to run my best that day, and make the most of the opportunity!
Wow, Tina, how cool that you ran in the Great Britain Olympic Trials!!! And you placed third – congratulations! I love that you realize that confidence played a big role in your success. Just did some stalking through your blog, and I can’t wait to follow along. You’re a very impressive runner!
Love everything about this post. One great thing about myself is my kindess and thoughtfulness. To see a smile on someones face to me is one the best gifts anyone can recieve. If that means me putting something I have planned on the back burner for the time being to help them, then so be it. If that means buying the person drink behind me @ Caribou, then I’m all for it. I constantly thrive to make each person I’m with or run into feel like they have a meaning & deserve the world.
Jessie, your comment made me smile, even reading it (again) a few weeks later! Glad you can recognize your strengths of kindness and thoughtfulness. You seem so generous and giving!
