**Have you read yesterday’s post yet?  It has a review and GIVEAWAY for one of my favorite on-the-go snacks, plus 7 reasons your body needs protein.  Check it out! **

Just a quick post today, to encourage you to have patience.  Mondays are sometimes my most impatient days … I get frustrated if my cab shows up late or can’t find my house, I get frustrated if the security line at the airport is too long, my patience is more limited at work … but today, I’m going to try to realize that it’s not just about me, and that everyone is fighting their own battle.  everyone is fighting a battle - blog 9.16.13(picture source)

Yesterday, as I was getting a manicure with my mom, her nail technician was telling us about how he lost his real estate job and all his money in the recession, and how he scrapes together everything he possibly can each year to send to orphanages, the elderly, and the poor back home in Vietnam.  His dream is to open an orphanage in Vietnam, and he’s already purchased the land but is working on saving enough to open the orphanage.  He had done a great job anyway, but what if we had gotten frustrated because he filed a nail too short or chipped the paint?  How silly that would have been!  Hearing his story made me want to be thoughtful this week about not judging, being patient, and realizing that everyone is fighting their own battles, just like I am.

When we get frustrated with other people, it drains us of energy, and has a lot of the negative health consequences that being stressed has.  Frustration can often lead to a downward spiral of emotions, which can rob you of strength to live the healthy life you want to live, too!  So today, take a deep breath, be a little extra patient, and pass along a smile to a stranger (it really is contagious!).  Then go work out :).

So tell me in the comments … what is the healthiest thing you did or ate this weekend?

Great, wise words there. Sometimes, we need to take a step back and realise just how fortunate we are! Healthiest thing I ate on the weekend- I reckon an omelette with some raisin toast- hit the spot!

The healthiest thing I did this weekend was go to the farmers’ market and take a long walk. The weather was perfect. My favorite part of the weekend is relaxing…I think that’s always good for my MENTAL health, which is also important!

all it takes is hearing a story like that to really put life in perspective. whenever i am feeling guilty about something i ate or drank, i try to remind myself that i am lucky to have the opportunity to eat or drink it in the first place.

Thanks for this perspective, Caitlin. It can seem silly to always have to remind ourselves of things like this, but it really does help me put my life into perspective and be more appreciative!

Love this post! What a great reminder! I know on Monday’s I can get very impatient because it is a reminder of how stressful things are for me – but I should always remember that it can always be worse and to be thankful for the things I do have! The healthiest thing I ate….hmmm…I got a little too indulgent this weekend but I did have a HUGE bowl of delicious banana fro-yo last night! It was delicious!

I think indulgence on the weekends is sometimes the way to go :). Monday is the perfect time to get re-started on a healthy track like I know you will! Hope you get by with as little stress as possible!
