Happy Friday! ย I often get asked what I do all day as a Health Coach, so this past Wednesday, I decided to document exactly what I did, including what I ate, for your viewing pleasure! ย I hope you enjoy this sneak peek into my life – I know I always love reading posts like this!

4:56am:ย Alarm goes off. ย I want to stay in bed (every time!), but I know I’ll feel better if I wake up and get in my workout. ย Brush teeth, wash face, go to the bathroom, prep my water bottle, and hop in the car.

on the way to bootcamp

(No one wants a selfie at 5:15am, so you get my water bottle, gloves, towel, and leg!)

5:30am:ย Bootcamp starts! (Here’s Kate’s review of my Bootcamp class! ย She says the classes are, “the most challenging classes I have taken in Dallas” and “If you want a bootcamp to whip you into shape, this class is worth your time”!). ย We did some running, plenty of burpees, a few circuits and partner drills, and finished it up with a “race” up 24 flights of stairs!

6:45am:ย Arrive home, hop in the shower, and start getting ready for the day. ย I listen to a Philosopher’s Note from Brian Johnson every day while getting ready – it gets me thinking about being productive, healthy, and happy right off the bat!

7:15am: Get all my beverages ready to take with me!

  • Chug some apple cider vinegar mixed with water (here’s why I recommend it daily).
  • Hit “Brew” on my Teeccino (I actually haven’t had caffeine in 4 months in an effort to give my adrenal glands a rest! ย I highly recommend Teeccinoย or Dandy Blend for those trying to take a break from coffee), and pour it into a to-go mug.
  • Hit “Blend” on my Vitamix (I putย all my smoothie ingredients in the blender the night before to make it super easy and quick in the morning … just add ice and go!). ย This morning’s smoothie was 1/2 a pear, cucumber, avocado, tons of frozen spinach, almond milk, cinnamon, and Numedica Total Vegan protein powder).
  • Of course, I bring my water, too. ย Gotta stay hydrated!

7:30am:ย Check a few emails, and do a super-quick modified Miracle Morning routine (I do more if I have more time). ย I do my gratitude journal every morning, and over the past few monthsย I’ve been trying to do at least 5 minutes of meditation as well!

7:45am:ย Hit the road for an 8am networking meeting! ย This one was Uptown Networking Group, where I’m Vice-Chair. ย I’ve done aย ton of networking over the past 2 years to help me grow my business. ย It’s fun to put myself out there, get to know new people, and help each other grow our businesses.

9:30am:ย Scurry toย my office just beforeย my first client appointment starts. ย Today, I have 8 clients. ย I usually schedule them back-to-back, but I’ve been trying to add in a break or two here or there to get emails and other work done, so I don’t feel behind at the end of the day.

12:00pm:ย quickย lunch and email break! ย I prepared my lunch the night before, so I just grabbed the bag before heading out the door in the morning. ย Today, I have a salad with snap peas, bell peppers, artichoke hearts, olives, a chopped hard-boiled egg, and some avocado oilย (so good as a dressing!). ย I also have a Paleo Wrap (I love Paleo Wraps,ย Raw Wraps, or Wrawps for healthier wrap options!) with cashew cheese (I had this brand from a health fair, but I also like Kite Hill), and Trader Joe’s roast chicken breast.

12:30pm:ย Start clients again! ย I love that my clients are so varied, and each appointment is something different. ย Here’s a breakdown of the clients I had today:

  • Professions:ย 2 CEOs, 2 management consultants, 1 law school student, 1 young professional, 1 stay-at-home mom, and 1 family with a 10-year-old daughter
  • Gender:ย 2 males and 6 females
  • Goals:ย All of them had weight loss and some other health aspect as their main goals. ย Other health aspects for today include lowering cholesterol, managing Type 2 diabetes, having more energy, keeping blood sugar stable during pregnancy, managing emotional eating, andย learning how to eat healthily despite a busy (traveling) lifestyle.

2:30pm:ย Another break to check emails (I keep in touch with many clients daily to hold them accountable), call 2 prospective clients who have left voicemails, prepare for a webinar I’m hosting, workย on a few changes to my marketing materials, and have a few snacks! ย Throughout the afternoon, I had a Thrive GoMacro bar, a veggie pack with Wholly Guacamole (I have a veggie pack every single day!), and some Saffron Road chickpea snacks (so addictive!).

4:00pm:ย Clients start again! ย I’m usually drinking some kind of tea during appointments, and I’m loving this one lately!

7:00pm: Last client wraps up. ย I spend about 40 minutes preparing client follow-up emails (I have a Virtual Assistant who really helps me with this!) and finishing up a few more tasks before ย leaving the office. ย Here’s the wall I stare at all day – I love the inspiration!

7:50pm:ย Get home and head out for a quick 20-minute walk. ย I usually walk home from the office, but since I had networking this morning, I drove in. ย Even though I try to stand as much as possible (and take my phone appointments while standing), I still like to get just a little bit of movement at the end of aย day of mostly sitting!

8:30pm:ย Dinner time! ย I had it all prepared (I do weekly food prep as much as possible), so I just had to heat it up and put it on a plate! ย I had mini Greek Turkey Burgers (similar to these), acorn squash with some butter, and roasted asparagus, Brussels sprouts, zucchini, and broccoli. ย It was delicious!

9:00pm:ย I’m trying my best not to work on the computer after dinner, so tonight I read for school (I’m currently working on my Masters in Holistic Nutrition). ย I’ll admit that I sent a few emails from my phone, but at least I didn’t open my computer! ย I had some Aleia’s macaroons (delicious!!) and a square (OK, more like 3 squares!) of unpictured dark chocolate. ย Yum ๐Ÿ™‚

10:00pm:ย Head to bed! ย I read in bed, and fall asleep. ย Can’t wait to do it all over again tomorrow!

So there you have it … my day in a nutshell! ย I love every moment of it, and feel so lucky to be doing what I’m doing!

2 “by the way” messages here… First, if being a health coach sounds fun to you, check out this Curriculum Guide to my first nutrition program, Institute for Integrative Nutrition, and let me know if you have any questions! ย Also, several of the links here are Amazon affiliate links, but I buy a lot of my healthy food products from Thrive Market, which has an amazing array of healthy products and is offering a free Halloween gift with sign up right now!)

Now it’s your turn:ย What part of my day sounds the most fun?

Oh my gosh, you eat at 830?! I would die if I ate that late;) I love that your alarm is set to an odd time. On my crossfit mornings mine is set for 4:52. Why not 4:50 as if two minutes really makes a difference – lol!

Haha! Yes, well I snack through the afternoon, don’t worry :). I agree with you on the 2 minutes not making a difference, but my 4:56 just stuck! Hope you’re doing well!

Hi, Linda! I got my first certification from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, and have done several programs after that to round out my education.

For some reason I am stuck on the wake-up of 4:56 because it is oddly specific … why? Is it a sequencing thing, or … ?

It actually made me think about my wake-up time … which happens to be 3:45. Because of course I deal in nice little 0.25 hour increments ๐Ÿ™‚ But didn’t realize it was a sequence.

I love the flow of your day, and am so happy with how you have transformed your life over these last couple of years, taking that drive and focus and all your smarts and putting them into action and OF COURSE you are achieving success helping others!

I didn’t realize that 4:56 was a sequence until you said that! Basically, I found that when I was waking up at 5:00, I didn’t have enough time, so I intended to set my alarm for 4:55 a long time ago. I passed the mark and hit 4:56, but it worked perfectly! So perfectly that the extra minute of sleep is worth the uneven time increment. Plus, the strange number just makes me smile :).

Thank you so much for the kind comments. I really am loving this life, and am so grateful to get to help others and make a living doing it! It’s a dream come true :). I appreciate your support!

Meg: I always know you weren’t a slacker but that is a full and long day! I especially like the way you are able to eat such a varied and nutritious array of food throughout the day by pre-planning and pre-prepping it. I want to know when you sneak in those People magazines? ๐Ÿ™‚ – Gary

Gary – People magazines are saved for planes, boring football games, or eating dinner when Kevin isn’t home :). So great to see you this weekend!
