Happy Motivation Monday!

motivation monday the lyons share

It’s Cyber Monday, one of the least productive days in the year (at least until you finish reading this post! 🙂).  Even without all the online shopping deals, the Thanksgiving “hangover” leaves many of us feeling lethargic, resentful towards work, and wanting to stay curled up in bed all day.  I’m not going to lie, that sounds pretty nice to me, too, but it’s on days like today that the need to stay motivated is greater than ever.

when the going gets tough

One of my favorite podcasts is Hal Elrod’s Achieve Your Goals podcast (I am so inspired by Hal, in fact, that I’m going to his “Best Year Ever Live” conference this upcoming weekend!).  Hal often talks about how we can’t wait to feel like taking action; we just have to consistently do the things that we know are helping us reach our goals.  If we always waited until inspiration struck to create our next project, take the next step toward something we’ve been hoping to achieve, or get started on something we’ve been putting off, we’d surely get a lot less done than we need to.

take action even when you dont feel like it

So today, even when you’d rather stay curled up in bed …

  • Get out the door and exercise!  Tell yourself you just have to move for 5 minutes, and I’ll bet you won’t quit there.
  • Tackle a project that you’ve been putting off for a while.  Imagine how good it will feel to check it off your list!
  • Do some food preparation for the week, even if you’re tired after work.  An hour spent now will save you two later on!
  • Order an extra side of vegetables instead of fries, even if those fries sound delicious.  Remember, it’s a holi-day, not a holi-month, and it’s time to get right back on track with your healthy lifestyle!

{By the way … if you’ve been thinking about enrolling at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, the most amazing Cyber Monday deal ends today, where you can save thousands on your tuition!  I get to give lots of discounts to friends as an Ambassador, but I’ve never seen one like this!  Please contact me today to get in on the savings!}

Now it’s your turn … What will you do to take action today, even when you don’t feel like it?

    I got up and ran …

    Considering our cat had decided to annoy us in the middle of the night, that it was 15F outside, and that I had already put in 10+ mile runs both Saturday and Sunday … I could easily have cut myself a break and stayed in. But I got bundled up and out I went.

    And I am feeling great for it.

    I was actually motivated enough that I got out early and must have done a decent pace, because I had extra time for more body-weight stuff instead of just a quick plank. Yay me 🙂

    Hope you guys had an amazing Thanksgiving!

      Way to go, Mike! Your mileage is so impressive! And happy to see that plank is still making it into the routine! Yes, Thanksgiving was great, and I hope the same for you!!!
